WHERE DOES THE STORY START?

Sometimes it’s hard to know where a story starts, even harder to know where it finishes. But the story of The New Ramsay Head Press is a long way from finished so it’s probably easier to take a stab at when it started. On our calendar, against this week, we have a pencilled number ‘10’. This to remind us that it’s only ten weeks since we first met, first spoke, first discussed publishing Alice’s debut collection of poems and drawings The Warm Universe. That was July 9th. The week before that we exchanged these messages on Instagram:

And that was it. We met for a pint in Kay’s Bar, six weeks later we had advance copies of The Warm Universe back from our printer in Devon. In between we’d set up a company, got some nice reviews in for Alice’s book, sold out an event at Typewronger Books, tentatively got two authors lined up for future publications, booked the Traverse Theatre for launch of The Warm Universe in October, eaten some cake, and sunk a few more pints.

It's a decent start but it is just the start. We’re very proud of what we’ve achieved in a short space of time and we’re looking forward to sharing that at the launch of The Warm Universe. It’s going to be a great evening, free and everyone welcome.
